In this role, you'll provide test engineering team leadership to meet product line revenue, profit and product delivery objectives and ensure customer and employee satisfaction. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage support for the product line’s custom and catalog devices ensuring project schedules are met and quality and reliability targets achieved.
  • Develop and drive TI technology for design verification, design for test, failure analysis and qualification.
  • Bridge the gap between functional teams, implement design for test techniques to reduce test cost and improve design verification, failure analysis capability in the product.
  • Provide fast identification of problems and implementation of solutions to minimize impact.
  • Present effective updates to internal TI management and customers.
  • Analyze/interpret data and use the data to improve products/processes.
  • Active involvement in improvement teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience that includes a proven history of technical accomplishment, leadership, planning, coordinating, and executing on multiple projects simultaneously for all silicon test activities.

Experience leading new product development teams or supervising product or test or design teams is needed. Knowledge of the Consumer Space and business while working with demanding customers and adhering to the highest standards in quality and reliability is preferred.

Good communication skills and a disciplined approach to problem solving are needed. This manager must be able to make prompt intelligent decisions based on business priorities. The ability to multi-task on multiple projects at the same time is a must. This manager must also be able to lead, motivate and manage achieving results through others.

Linden Lab looking for Tech Lead Engineer

Overview: Linden Lab is looking for an exceptional Tech Lead/Senior Engineer to lead one of its Platform development teams for Second Life. The tech lead will provide day-to-day technical guidance and scrum mastery for a team of 3-7 engineers working on the Second Life platform. He/she will work with the team as Product Owner to prioritize work and establish a high level of team participation and interaction. The Tech Lead will lead by example as an active participant on the team and interact with the rest of the Platform group to guide the evolution of Second Life. Responsibilities:
  • Code development and debugging; including associated automated unit and integration tests.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance to other engineers on the team in a collaborative fashion.
  • Work with Manager and other members of the platform engineering team to ensure the continued refinement and improvement in the Second Life software infrastructure.
  • Promote execution, quality, creativity, and a strong collaborative culture with peers and other functions within Linden Lab.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Expert level experience with C++ & Python in large scale deployments
  • Expert level XML, Apache, and SQL.
  • Experience with Erlang, XMPP and messaging systems a big plus.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the complexities and needs of an engineering team making technological and architectural trade-offs.
  • Must possess high level of enthusiasm and be a strong team player.
  • Must thrive in multi-tasking, quick moving, distributed thinking environment.
  • Shell scripting on Linux or other POSIX system strongly preferred (bash, csh, or other).
  • Understanding of entertainment industry, gaming and social networking communities a plus.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3+ years of progressively broadening systems software development.
  • Leadership experience with a strong track record of success in the development, and delivery of complex, scalable web applications.
  • Previous start-up experience is a plus.
